Multifunctional Test Rig

TEMES fl.ai1

Using our test rig TEMES fl.ai1, compression tests, leak rate tests, compressive creep tests and creep relaxation tests can be performed; i.e. all relevant gasket tests are possible, hence the suffix "ai1", short for "all in one".
 

Design and Function

In essence, the TEMES fl.ai1 test rig is a servo-controlled hydraulic press. The design of this test rig is modular, so it can be tailored to different types of tests and gasket sizes. In particular, the insulating, cooling and heating modules can be exchanged, but also the gasket platens for tests of different gasket designs and geometries may be exchanged.

The gasket stress is measured by a load cell mounted at the base of the hydraulic column, and the gasket deformation by displacement transducers at three equidistant points about the circumference of the gasket sample. Additionally, the temperature profile of the test rig is measured in real time.

Software

Easy-to-use software permits flexible logging, graphical and numerical output and storage of all measured data. The software can also be used to control the entire testing procedure so that tests can be carried out fully automatically according to official standards (e.g. ASTM, EN, DIN) or according to individually-defined, custom procedures.

Leakage Measurement

For higher sample leakage ranges of any medium, the pressure decay method is implemented for leakage measurement (using differential pressure for higher sensitivity). All valves required for the different functions are controlled by software – the tests can be performed fully automatically.

Optionally, lower sample leakage measurement is executed with a helium mass spectrometer, or a flame ionization detector for hydrocarbon leakage measurements. Thus, a wide range of sealing requirements can be measured.

Generally, leakage testing is carried out at constant internal pressure and different levels of gasket stress. Thanks to computer-controlled filling and venting, it is also possible to carry out tests with several levels of internal pressure.
 

Used in Our Lab

Aside from offering the TEMES fl.ai test rig for purchase, this device is used in our testing laboratory, too.
